Knox Medical Centre was established over 50 years ago and has been providing excellent medical care since. We are committed to continue and further improve this service, allocate our time to our patients and their families and look after the local community.

The Doctors

Dr Andrey Butrev MBBS FRACGP
Dr Butrev graduated from medical school in 1996 and spent several years working in the hospital settings overseas and in Australia. He completed General Practice Training in Australia in 2010 and has been working as a GP in Gippsland where he was involved in a training of junior doctors. He also practices in Frankston. He has a broad range of skills and has specific interest in cosmetic medicine. He speaks English, Greek and Russian Languages.

Dr Win Naing MBBS FRACGP
Since graduation in 2005, Win has had wide range of hospital and general practice experience for more than 10 years. He spent about 3 years working as a hospital doctor in Gippsland (Traralgon) and Monash Health. Then he went into general practice training in Gippsland (Sale, Wonthaggi and Lang Lang). He joined Knox Medical Centre in 2016. In addition to his clinical work, he is regularly involved in academic activities with RACGP , AMC (Australian Medical Council) and AGPT( Australian GP Training). He is a current examiner with RACGP and AMC.

Dr Chye Chionh, MBBS
Dr Chionh has been a general practitioner for more than 40 years and is a life member of the RACGP. He has a special interest in respiratory and cardiac patients and aged care. Away from work, he has an interest in gardening and music.

Dr Freya Schmidt MBBS
Freya Schmidt graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1986. She subsequently completed a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1989 and then started General Practice Training, completing the Family Medicine program in 1993. She has worked at Knox Medical Centre since the early 1990’s.
She has interests in Women’s health, Preventative care and working with people to make lifestyle changes to maximize their well-being.
Outside work, she enjoys watching her children play sport, travelling, swimming, reading and is currently learning to speak Korean.

Dr Kristy Chong MBBS FRACGP
Dr Kristy Chong completed her undergraduate medical degree in 2001 from University of Western Australia. She then completed her training in Diploma of Child Health 2006. Following this Dr Kristy obtained Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2008. She has recently relocated back to Australia after living and working in Wellington, New Zealand as a GP for the past 15 years.
Outside of medicine, Dr Kristy enjoys interior decorating, reading; current world affairs, biographies and autobiographies and exercise, walking, hiking or dancing.

Dr Yiyun (Crystal) Zhang MBBS
Dr Crystal completed her medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 2019. She then completed her training in Diploma of Child Health 2024. She has had extensive clinical experience as general medical registrar, paediatric registrar and ICU registrar in various hospitals in Victoria and Interstate for 5 years before deciding to decicate her medical career as a GP. She is currently in the RACGP General Practice Training program as a registrar.
